Lightning map is updated as lightning appears. Update period is dependent on storm size.
 
To use STORMVIEW-1.5 below :
Click on to HISTORY set 30 minutes or 60 minute worth of lightning strike playbacks.
VIEW RANGE Click FULL for 375 mile or ZOOM for 180 mile display
EVENT LOOP will STOP playback and display total lightning strikes for the 60 or 30 minutes whichever one has been set.
RUN plays back 1 hour's worth of lightning strikes at about 60 times speed.
 

 

The Text box below gives indications of any Lightning storms within a  750 mile radius.

TRAC     - Thunderstorm Ranging and Aquisition.
Ranging - A mathmatical process used to determine strike                             locations

 

The JPEG map below is normally updated every 30 minutes and gives indications of lightning strikes at over 750 miles away. It can also be used if you do not have a Java enabled browser.
